The Gorals ( pl, Górale; Goral dialect: ''Górole''; sk, Gorali; Cieszyn Silesia dialect, Cieszyn Silesian: ''Gorole''), also known as the Highlanders (in Poland as the Polish Highlanders) are an indigenous ethnographic or ethnic group primarily found in their traditional area of southern Poland, northern Slovakia and in the region of Cieszyn Silesia in the Czech Republic, where they are known as the Silesian Gorals. Highlander (film)
''Highlander'' is a 1986 fantasy action-adventure film directed by Russell Mulcahy from a screenplay by Gregory Widen, Peter Bellwood and Larry Ferguson. It stars Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown, and Sean Connery. The film chronicles the climax of an age-old war between immortal warriors, depicted through interwoven past and present-day storylines. It is the first film in the ''Highlander'' franchise. ''Jeu de cartes'' (Card Game) is a neoclassical ballet in three "deals", composed by Igor Stravinsky in 1936–37 with libretto by the composer in collaboration with Nikita Malayev, a friend of Stravinsky's eldest son Théodore, and with choreography by George Balanchine. The ballet was premiered by the American Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York City on 27 April 1937, with the composer conducting; the European premiere followed on 13 October 1937 performed by the Staatskapelle Dresden under the direction of Karl Böhm. ''Highlander'' was panned by reviewers. Gameplay Highlander is an arcade fighting game, in which the player controls one of two swordsmen. In the single-player mode the player plays as Connor MacLeod and must fight three opponents in one-on-one combat: his mentor Ramírez, then Fizir (named Fasil in the film), before finally facing The Kerghan (named The Kurgan in the film). In each fight the objective is to reduce the opponent's health to zero, at which point he is beheaded and the player wins the fight. A two-player mode is also available. The Raven
"The Raven" is a narrative poem by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a talking raven's mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the man's slow descent into madness. The lover, often identified as a student,Meyers, 163Silverman, 239 is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Sitting on a bust of Pallas, the raven seems to further distress the protagonist with its constant repetition of the word "Nevermore". The poem makes use of folk, mythological, religious, and classical references.
